On the morning of June 6, the ceremony marking the sea trial of the deep-sea ore-lifting system under the national 863 Program project undertaken by Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM) and the maiden voyage of the comprehensive trial ship Changhe Haiyang (Changhe Ocean) was held with due ceremony in Songmen Town, Wenling City, Zhejiang Province. CRIMM general manager Yang Yingliang; Party committee secretary and discipline inspection commission secretary Xie Jianguo; deputy Party committee secretary Du Weiwu; manager Zhuo Xiaojun of the group corporation’s Science and Technology Management Department; chairman Lu Yunjun of Shanghai Minghe Shipping Co., Ltd.; and relevant leaders and experts from other related organizations attended the ceremony and delivered remarks.
In implementation of the national strategy of “further caring about the ocean, understanding the ocean and managing the ocean”, and after more than two years of careful planning and preparation, the preparatory work for the sea trial of the deep-sea ore-lifting pump and pipe system was fully complete: all test equipment had been installed and commissioned, all trial personnel were at their posts, and the comprehensive trial ship Changhe Haiyang stood ready as the trial mother ship. After general manager Yang Yingliang announced the departure, the ship officially set sail at 9:08 on the morning of the 6th. It is reported that the Changhe Haiyang will first conduct nearshore drills at anchorage to confirm the state of the system and train the trial operators on site, and will then proceed to designated waters in the South China Sea to carry out clear-water ore-lifting tests and ore material transport tests, verifying the deployment capability of the ore-lifting pipeline and the transport capacity of the ore-lifting pump and pipe system.
CRIMM deputy general manager Li Maolin serves as commander-in-chief of this sea trial, while project leader and chief engineer Jin Xing, Deep Sea Institute Party secretary Professor Xu Xiaoshu, and deputy general manager Xiong Liangsheng of Shanghai Minghe Shipping Co., Ltd. serve as deputy commanders. The 701st Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, Shanghai Li-Ce Technology Co., Ltd. and other organizations sent personnel to take part in the sea trial.
