Professor Jerzy Sobota of Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences Visits CRIMM for Technical Exchange

On August 25, Professor Jerzy Sobota of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Poland came to Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM) for a technical exchange and discussion on the polymetallic nodule lifting technology of the Interoceanmetal Joint Organization (IOM). Deputy director Zhou Yun of the institute’s Science and Technology Management Department chaired the meeting, and nearly 30 researchers from the Ocean Institute and the Concentration and Transport Institute took part in the technical exchange and discussion.

At the meeting, Professor Xu Xiaoshu, deputy director of the Ocean Institute, warmly welcomed Professor Jerzy Sobota’s visit. Professor Sobota gave an academic report on IOM’s polymetallic nodule lifting technology, and Professor Tang Dasheng and engineer Li Xiaoyan of the Ocean Institute presented, respectively, the research achievements of CRIMM’s ore-lifting technology and the basic situation of deep-sea mining.

After the academic exchange, accompanied by science and technology staff of the Ocean Institute, Professor Sobota toured the State Key Laboratory of Deep-Sea Mineral Resources Development and Utilization Technology and the pipeline transport pilot workshop. This academic exchange further strengthened the mutual exchange between CRIMM and IOM and achieved good results.
