On July 20, the Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM) and Ocean University of China signed a Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement and an Agreement on Jointly Building the National Key Laboratory of Deep-Sea Mineral Resources Development and Utilization Technology in Changsha. CRIMM Party committee secretary and chairman Li Maolin and Ocean University of China Party committee deputy secretary and president Yu Zhigang attended the signing ceremony.
Under the agreements, the two sides, following the principles of “complementary strengths, integration of science and education, collaborative innovation, and win-win cooperation,” will carry out all-round cooperation in areas including research team building, tackling major projects, jointly building innovation platforms, talent cultivation, and resource sharing, and will jointly explore innovation in and application of deep-sea mineral resources development technology, injecting new momentum into safeguarding China’s energy and resource security and expanding its deep-sea and far-sea strategic space.
