The 2023 China Marine Economy Expo was held from November 23 to 25 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. The Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM) exhibited by invitation, highlighting its technology and equipment achievements in underwater dredging and in deep-sea mineral resources exploration and mining. CRIMM Party committee secretary and chairman Li Maolin attended related forums as an invited guest and delivered a keynote report on the theme “Building a Maritime Power, Pursuing the Deep-Blue Dream.”
This edition of the China Marine Economy Expo covered 112,500 square meters of exhibition space and attracted 658 leading marine-sector enterprises, institutions, and organizations from 16 countries and regions to exhibit in person, the most in the expo’s history. Under the theme “care for the ocean, understand the ocean, manage the ocean,” CRIMM presented exhibitors and visitors with the Kunlong 500 test mining vehicle (a seabed nodule collector vehicle) and a sulfide mining vehicle; seabed exploration and survey equipment including an in-situ tester, a continuous polymetallic nodule sampler, a polymetallic nodule enrichment work vehicle, and the Deep-Sea Guardian (Shenhai Weishi) environmental testing unit; deepwater operation equipment on the theme of land-sea integration, including the Danuo 1, the Liaoyuan, and a culvert-dredging robot; as well as the Haikun concept mining vehicle.
At the expo, CRIMM’s exhibition staff introduced to other exhibitors and attending visitors the development history of the institute’s equipment and technology in the field of deep-sea mineral resources exploration and mining, and discussed with them the current state and prospects of deep-sea mineral resources development.
