Trans-Tasman Resources Information Expo
9 September 2013
12:00-7:00PM, TUESDAY 10 SEPTEMBER, HAWERA COMMUNITY CENTRE THEATRE LOUNGE
TTR is holding a public information expo in Hawera on 10 September 2013 from 12pm to 7pm at the Hawera Community Centre Theatre Lounge.
“We encourage people to visit the expo at their leisure, have a cup of tea and learn more about the project, the environmental effects research and the approvals process.” said TTR Chief Executive Tim Crossley.
The information expo will focus on TTR’s South Taranaki Bight Project to extract iron sand within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) between 22 and 35 kilometres off the coast of Patea.
Information about TTR, the proposed project, environmental effects and potential local benefits will be show-cased as part of the expo.
“We are currently engaging with iwi and existing interests on our proposed project, but the information expo provides a chance for the wider public to learn a lot more about the project in advance of our marine consent application.”
“The public will have an opportunity to have their say formally on the project once we lodge our marine consents with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) later this year.” said Mr Crossley.
About Trans-Tasman Resources Ltd:
Trans-Tasman Resources Ltd (TTR) is a privately-owned New Zealand company. It was established in 2007 to explore, assess and develop the potential of the rich offshore iron ore deposits off the Taranaki and west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Prospecting work to date suggests there is a world-class mineral resource which could supply international markets with a reliable supply of low-cost iron ore. TTR is committed to conducting all activities in a safe and environmentally sustainable manner.
TTR has applied for mining permits for the South Taranaki Bight project in July 2013 and plans to lodge its application for environmental marine consents under the new EEZ legislation in October this year.
