Luderitz sampling results

Key points

  • Diamonds were recovered from features in Hottentots Bay covering 31 square kilometres, as reported in Stockwatch on November 24 and December 15.
  • A single sample site in the additional prospect feature (APF) of the Luderitz grant yielded 215 diamonds, the highest stone count from a single sample on the West Coast of Southern Africa using a remote sampling tool.
  • The company has completed sampling around three sites to date, all positive, including 17 stones at Site I, 15 stones at Site II, and 215 stones at Site III.
  • The average stone size recovered is 0.25 carats with 95% gem quality, and the program is expected to be completed this quarter, with mining proposals due to the mine study group at the end of January.

The company released initial results of its sampling program off the Namibian coast in Stockwatch, November 24 and December 15. Diamonds were recovered from its features in Hottentots Bay covering 31 square kilometres. The program then moved to Luderitz where an exceptional discovery was recorded in additional prospect feature (APF) in its Luderitz grant. 215 diamonds were recovered from a single sample site.

Using a remote sampling tool, these results contain the highest stone count recovered from a single sample on the West Coast of Southern Africa.

The immediate area of interest in APF is in excess of 1 square kilometre. Five of the samples recorded stone counts of 15 diamonds or more.

The company is now stepping out from these discovery holes. Three bulk samples at 10 metre intervals will be taken around each hole. Further samples will be taken on a 25 metre grid basis and further infill sampling will follow. Two sites will be selected for the removal of a 200 square metre bulk sample.

To date the company has completed the program around three of the sites. All samples have been positive with the following results:

1. Site I 17 stones

Sample 1 10 stones

Sample 2 151 stones

Sample 3 8 stones

2. Site II 15 stones

Sample 1 67 stones

Sample 2 9 stones

Sample 3 1 stone

3. Site III 215 stones

Sample 1 201 stones

Sample 2 98 stones

(aborted)

Sample 3 199 stones

The average stone size is 0.25 carats and 95% are gem quality.

The company anticipates completion of the program within this quarter. Its mine study group will consider mining proposals expected to be submitted at the end of January.
