  • Four young marine science professionals from Georgia, Mexico, Bangladesh and Cuba visited CRIMM on August 27.
  • They toured the State Key Laboratory facilities, including the collector test ground, high-pressure chamber and metallurgical laboratory.
  • The visit was part of COMRA’s program to train young professionals from developing countries under its seabed contract obligations.

On the afternoon of August 27, four young science and technology professionals in the marine field, from Georgia, Mexico, Bangladesh and Cuba respectively, came to Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM) for a tour and exchange.

The guests mainly toured the company’s State Key Laboratory of Deep-Sea Mineral Resources Development and Utilization Technology, including the collector locomotion test ground, the crushing laboratory, the high-pressure chamber laboratory, the ore-lifting laboratory, the metallurgical laboratory and other test facilities, and exchanged views with laboratory staff on the main performance and uses of the equipment and the role it plays in research work.

This visit was part of COMRA’s series of programs to train young science and technology professionals from developing countries. As the main domestic organization undertaking deep-sea mineral resources development, the company’s hosting of such exchanges on the one hand helps COMRA fulfill its obligations under its international seabed contract-area exploration contracts, and on the other hand is conducive to establishing broader international exchange and cooperation relationships and to raising the level of the company’s marine research and development.
