On October 15, the 2024 (26th) China Mining Conference and Exhibition opened in Tianjin. Wang Dongming, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, attended the opening ceremony and delivered an address, and Wang Guanghua, minister of Natural Resources, presided over the opening ceremony. Chen Dexin, president and deputy Party secretary of China Minmetals, attended the opening ceremony and related activities by invitation.
This year’s conference, themed “Promoting Mining Cooperation, Creating a Better Future,” was guided by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government and hosted by the China Mining Association, running from October 15 to 18. Nearly 10,000 participants from more than 40 countries, regions, and international organizations attended, with nearly 400 domestic and foreign institutions and companies exhibiting.
The China Minmetals booth highlighted the group’s integrated advantages across the full metals and minerals industry chain, its world-class high-end products, and its breakthroughs in critical chokepoint technologies. The booth exhibited models of deep-sea mining technology and equipment independently developed by the Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM), including the Kunlong 500 (a seabed nodule collector vehicle), the Haikun (a deep-sea mining vehicle), a continuous sampler, and the Shenhai Weishi (“Deep-Sea Guardian,” a deep-sea operations vehicle), along with samples of deep-sea polymetallic nodules, drawing attention and praise from industry professionals and media.
