Friends of MOBY,
We’re excited to share that MOBY has been awarded a major commercial contract to conduct advanced seabed mapping in the Pacific Ocean’s Clarion-Clipperton Zone (CCZ), with offshore operations set for December 2026.
The project will showcase MOBY’s deep ocean robotics platform, capable of operating at depths of up to 6,000 meters (19,685 feet), while further validating the capabilities of MOBY Maps, our AI-native ocean intelligence platform.
During the mission, MOBY’s robotic systems will collect high-resolution imagery and seafloor mapping data, which will be integrated into MOBY Maps to generate detailed insights into seabed characteristics, terrain, mineral distribution, and site conditions.
Collecting data is only one part of the story. MOBY is building the intelligence layer that makes deep ocean data easier to see, search, understand, and use. After each mission, MOBY Maps helps transform raw ocean data into viewable 3D maps, searchable mission records, and clear operational insights.
Using in-house AI and computer vision models, MOBY Maps can help identify important features such as marine life, habitats, seafloor characteristics, and subsea infrastructure. This allows teams to search and filter mission data more efficiently, quickly locate relevant observations, and reduce the time required for manual review.

The mission will help build a more complete picture of the seafloor, from terrain and habitats to the marine life found there. This work supports more comprehensive environmental baselines and helps advance a more responsible, data-driven approach to deep ocean operations.
For MOBY, this contract represents far more than just an isolated project. Every deployment builds on and expands our proprietary ocean dataset, strengthens our AI models, and proves our robotics platform in one of the world’s most demanding environments. It also validates real market demand for the deep ocean capabilities we are building.
The customer has requested confidentiality, so MOBY will not be disclosing the client’s identity or additional project details at this time.
We are excited to take this next step as we continue building technology that can make deep ocean operations scalable, reliable, and commercially viable.
Warm regards,
Team MOBY
