Key points
- MOBY designs and builds its robotic systems entirely in-house, from initial concept to finished hardware.
- The team recently spent extensive time testing Dorado, an autonomous underwater vehicle.
- Dorado is designed for large-area seafloor mapping, survey, and monitoring.
- MOBY’s in-house workflow lets the team identify problems during tests and return improved systems to the water shortly afterward.
Friends of MOBY,
It has been a productive few weeks for our team, with much of that time spent testing in the water.
One of MOBY’s greatest advantages is that we design and build our robotic systems entirely in-house. From the first concept through finished hardware, design, build, and testing all happen under one roof.
That allows us to move quickly. We can identify a problem during a test, make changes in-house, and return an improved system to the water shortly afterward. That tight feedback loop between design, build, and testing is fundamental to how we develop our technology.

In recent weeks, we have spent extensive time testing Dorado, our autonomous underwater vehicle designed for large-area seafloor mapping, survey, and monitoring.
Warm regards,
Team MOBY
