On July 5, the conference marking the founding of the deep-earth and deep-sea mineral resources exploration and development future industry innovation consortia and the launch of the original technology source initiative was held in Beijing. Shi Dai, general manager of China Merchants Group, attended the meeting and, in his capacity as joint commander-in-chief of the Deep-Sea Mineral Resources Exploration and Development Future Industry Innovation Consortium (the deep-sea mineral innovation consortium), presented letters of appointment to members of the consortium’s expert advisory committee. Weng Zuliang, chairman of China Minmetals; Jia Xingyuan, deputy director of the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council; Yao Huajun, director of the Science and Technology Development Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources; Li Xiangyang, deputy director of the China Ocean Affairs Administration; and Han Long, chairman of BGRIMM Technology Group, attended and delivered remarks.
During the meeting, keynote reports were given by Hou Zengqian, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Ge Shirong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; and Liu Feng, vice chairman of the China Ocean Mineral Resources Research and Development Association.
The deep-sea mineral innovation consortium is made up of 10 central state-owned enterprises, including China Minmetals, China Merchants Group and China State Shipbuilding Corporation, together with 11 universities, research institutes and other organizations. Its aim is to pool the strengths of industry, academia, research and end users, jointly deepen new models of collaborative innovation, and further promote the healthy development and all-round progress of the future industry of deep-sea mineral resources exploration and development.
Wu Sichuan, general manager of China Merchants Industry, and relevant heads of the group’s Strategic Development Department / Science and Technology Innovation Department attended the meeting.
