On July 19 and 20, Hu Xianfu, general manager of China Merchants Industry, led a delegation to Hainan for wide-ranging exchanges with local parties on making full use of China Merchants Industry’s strengths in scientific and technological innovation, strengthening all-around cooperation, and jointly advancing the high-quality development of deep-sea science and technology research in Hainan.
On the morning of July 19, Hu Xianfu visited China Merchants Hainan. He outlined China Merchants Industry’s recent progress in scientific and technological innovation and proposed using high-quality deep-sea science and technology innovation as the foundation for jointly advancing innovation business in the deep-sea science and technology city and implementing the group’s Hainan strategy. Zhu Wenkai, general manager of China Merchants Hainan, welcomed the delegation and presented the planning and construction progress of the deep-sea science and technology city and the operation of the park, expressing the hope that the two sides would continue to deepen their cooperation and achieve coordinated development in the deep-sea science and technology field. The delegation then traveled to the Yazhou Bay deep-sea science and technology city for a field visit, learning about progress in the city’s construction, supporting facilities and industry recruitment.
On the afternoon of July 19, Hu Xianfu called on the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration. He thanked the administration for its long-standing support of China Merchants Industry, introduced the company’s core business and strategic development layout, and expressed the hope of continuing to develop its various lines of business in Hainan in depth with the administration. Wu Hui, director of the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration, welcomed the delegation and said he looked forward to China Merchants Industry drawing on its industrial and resource strengths to integrate deeply into the construction of the Hainan free trade port.
On the morning of July 20, Hu Xianfu called on the Sanya municipal government. He thanked the city government for its long-standing care and support for China Merchants Industry’s development. He noted that China Merchants Industry, relying on the China Merchants Deep-Sea Equipment Research Institute, is conducting systematic, engineering-oriented research on major key technologies such as deep-sea mining, and said the company hoped, with the support of the Sanya municipal government, to contribute China Merchants’ strength to building a high-level deep-sea industry in Hainan. Chen Xi, mayor of Sanya, welcomed the delegation’s visit to Sanya’s Yazhou Bay. He said Hainan province has issued a series of plans and policies to encourage innovation in major key marine technologies, and expressed the hope that China Merchants Industry would leverage its strengths and increase and accelerate its research and development efforts in the Sanya deep-sea science and technology city, contributing to the construction of the Hainan free trade port.
On the afternoon of July 20, Hu Xianfu visited the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He described China Merchants Industry’s development in recent years and its layout of innovation work, noting that the institute is the leading team in China’s deep-sea technology research, and expressed the hope that China Merchants Industry would further deepen cooperation with the institute in the field of deep-sea mining and pursue coordinated development in deep-sea technology and equipment. Ding Kang, director of the institute, said that China Merchants Industry has strengths in the industrialization of engineering technology, and that the institute is willing to work with the company on building deep-sea technological capabilities and to strengthen cooperation in the research and development of key technologies and equipment.
Mei Xianzhi, deputy general manager of China Merchants Industry, Liu Jiancheng, general manager of its Science and Technology Development Department, and other relevant personnel took part in the exchanges.
