On May 24, a delegation led by Zhuo Xiaojun, general manager and Party committee deputy secretary of the Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM), visited Ocean University of China for a business exchange. Ocean University of China Party committee secretary Tian Hui; Li Maolin, chief technology expert of China Minmetals and director of the State Key Laboratory of Deep-Sea Mineral Resources Development and Utilization Technology; and CRIMM deputy general manager and chief financial officer Li Weiwen attended the discussion.
At the meeting, the two sides held in-depth exchanges on further deepening cooperation and working together to innovate and develop deep-sea mineral resources exploration and development technology. On July 20, 2023, CRIMM and Ocean University of China signed a Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement and an Agreement on Jointly Building the National Key Laboratory of Deep-Sea Mineral Resources Development and Utilization Technology in Changsha. Since the cooperation agreements were signed, the two sides have carried out a series of fruitful cooperation on the joint building and reorganization of the national key laboratory, and have achieved important results in basic research on deep-sea mining and in environmental impact assessment. This exchange laid a solid foundation for fully implementing the strategic cooperation agreement and advancing the joint building, reorganization, and development of the national key laboratory. Both sides stated that they will further leverage their respective strengths, strengthen cooperation with a focus on fields such as marine engineering and environmental science, and jointly advance scientific and technological innovation and the industrialization of research results.
Personnel from CRIMM’s science and technology development department and its marine institute, along with relevant staff of Ocean University of China, took part in the exchange.
