- The meeting, chaired by deputy general manager Zhang Baozhong, heard reports on the cruise’s results and firsthand accounts from expedition members.
- General manager Yang Yingliang called the voyage another milestone in CRIMM’s nearly 30 years of marine work and a national and corporate strategy.
On the morning of December 7, to comprehensively summarize and share the results of the cruise and to carry forward the pioneering, innovative and striving scientific spirit of CRIMM’s people, Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM) held a cruise work summary meeting in Conference Room 8 of the academic building. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Baozhong, the institute’s chief financial officer and deputy general manager.
At the meeting, Xu Xiaoshu, secretary of the cruise’s temporary Party committee, first reported on the cruise’s results, covering five parts: an overview of the cruise, the cruise’s work and achievements, the work of the temporary Party committee, study and daily life, and gains and reflections. He expressed heartfelt thanks for the strong support of the group corporation and the institute’s leadership for the cruise and for their warm care for the expedition members. Next, Liu Yuwei, Li Feng and Li Manhong, three CRIMM researchers who took part in the cruise, shared their experiences with the meeting from the perspective of their own posts, taking the attendees into the world of at-sea survey work, and those present interacted and exchanged views with the cruise participants on the spot.
Zhuo Xiaojun, general manager of the intellectual property department within the group corporation’s science and technology management department, speaking on behalf of that department, fully affirmed the successful completion of the cruise, explained the significance of the triumphant first voyage for the group corporation, and offered valuable opinions and suggestions on follow-on marine work.
Finally, institute general manager Yang Yingliang once again warmly congratulated the cruise on its triumphant return, calling it another milestone event in CRIMM’s marine endeavors. Yang reviewed the work and effort the institute has put into solidly advancing the development and utilization of seabed mineral resources over nearly 30 years, and explained that developing and utilizing seabed mineral resources is a national strategy, a corporate strategy for the group corporation as the guarantor of the nation’s resources, and equally CRIMM’s own corporate strategy, a cause the institute will work hard to develop over the next 30 years. He added that with a long-term goal set, the institute must advance step by step in a down-to-earth way, creating one milestone after another in its marine endeavors. Yang required that next year’s 500-meter seabed collection trial be listed as the Marine Institute’s most important work plan, and called on all Marine Institute staff to fight on day and night and go all out to win the most important milestone among these milestone events.
Nearly 130 people attended the meeting, including members of the institute’s leadership team, staff of the institute’s functional departments, all staff of the Marine Institute, and representatives of other units at various levels.
