Diamond Fields International (DFI) has appointed Edward L. Mercaldo as senior adviser to DFI’s board of directors, for financial and strategic advice.

Mr. Mercaldo previously held the positions of executive vice-president, chief financial officer and director of Diamond Fields Resources Inc. (DFR), and was instrumental in developing its potential and subsequent sale to Inco Ltd. for $4.3-billion. Following the sale of DFR in August, 1996, Mr. Mercaldo served as a director of Inco Ltd. until September, 2000. He was a member of both the audit and management resources and compensation committees at Inco Ltd.

Prior to his tenure with DFR Mr. Mercaldo enjoyed an outstanding career in international commercial and investment banking with major institutions in the United States and Canada. He has served in key executive positions with several leading financial organizations, including Wachovia Bank, Bank of Montreal, Bankers Trust Company of New York, Gordon Capital and First Marathon Securities.

Mr. Mercaldo is currently a financial consultant and private investor, active in a broad range of business, charitable and professional activities in the United States and Canada. His accomplished background will be a tremendous complement to the strong technical and political capabilities of our existing board of directors.”
