Mv Anya Sailing for Luderitz Blue Bay Project Area to Resume Diamond Mining

Diamond Fields International has confirmed the departure on Sept. 16, 2003, of mining vessel mv Anya from Cape Town to resume mining operations in the Marshall Fork deposit, offshore Luderitz, Namibia.

Vessel manager Gemfarm Investments Pty. Ltd. reports that the reregistration of the vessel under the South African flag and the associated change of classification society to RINA have been finalized. In addition, extensive improvements and refurbishment work have been completed on the processing plant and mining systems.

Gregg Sedun, president and chief executive officer of Diamond Fields, commented, “As a result of the comprehensive work carried out on the mv Anya, we expect a significant improvement in performance and reliability, resulting in increased diamond recoveries from our Luderitz Blue Bay project area.”
