EMINENT Project Kick-off: Towards Sustainable Decarbonisation

Sustainable decarbonisation and self-sufficiency

The Energy MINerals for the NEtzero Transition project (#EMINENT) has been launched in Bergen, and the partners involved are excited to contribute to sustainable decarbonisation and European self-sufficiency on critical minerals. The project is supported by Norges forskningsråd, Innovation Norway, and Siva SF, and aims to address the entire value chain of a future industry emerging from the deep sea. Experts from the industry and academia have come together for two days of workshops and discussions to initiate the project.

According to Kjersti Dahle from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, EMINENT is an important project to learn more about sustainable decarbonisation. The project has kicked off with the DeepInsight23 cruise, and results and updates will be shared as they become available.

The project involves several organizations, including the University of Bergen (UiB), Future Materials – Norwegian Catapult Centre, NORCE Norwegian Research Centre, UiT- The Arctic University of Norway, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Akvaplan-niva, Aker BP ASA, Aanderaa – a Xylem brand, DeepOcean, NOV, Shearwater GeoServices, Seabed Solutions, Geoprovider, ReSiTec AS, GCE Ocean Technology & Adepth.

EMINENT is a GreenPlatform project that aligns with the goal of sustainable decarbonisation, and the project partners are dedicated to contributing to this objective. The project is expected to have a significant impact on the future industry emerging from the deep sea and promote European self-sufficiency on critical minerals.
