Norwegian Exclusive Economic Zone opened for mineral activity

The Storting today agreed to the government’s proposal to open up parts of the Norwegian continental shelf for mineral activity.

With the Storting’s decision, arrangements are now being made for a step-by-step and sound development of seabed minerals, based on a precautionary approach.

This is an important milestone for Norway. The decision to open up seabed mineral exploration and extraction reflects a commitment to sustainable and responsible resource management.

We look forward to participating in this process, which not only promotes the green shift, but also contributes to national industrial development. With clear and extremely strict framework conditions, we ensure that our national resource utilization takes place in a sustainable and socially responsible manner.
