April’s production from Namibian Minerals’ Luderitz Bay grant has yielded 12,814 carats of gem quality diamonds.
The average diamond size from this production is 0.37 carats. The largest stone recovered during the month was 10.24 carats (previously reported as 10.13 carats) with larger stones including those weighing 4.25, 3.73 and 3.53 carats.
The company’s diamond recoveries meet its expectation. The company continues to enhance the production capabilities of its NamSSol mining system.
The company has appointed Yusuf Surtee as a director of its South African board. Mr. Surtee is the CEO of Regent Overseas Holdings and serves as a director of a number of important South African companies including Nike and Alfred Dunhill. He is the trustee of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and of the Thabo Mbeki Fund.
