On January 12, Kang Jian, deputy director of the China Ocean Mineral Resources R&D Association (COMRA), came to Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM) for a special research and guidance visit on the development and utilization of ocean mineral resources. Zhuo Xiaojun, general manager for intellectual property in China Minmetals’ science and technology management department, CRIMM general manager Yang Yingliang, deputy general managers Zhang Baozhong and Li Maolin, and relevant leaders and experts from the science and technology management department and the Marine Institute accompanied the visit.
General manager Yang Yingliang extended a warm welcome to Deputy Director Kang Jian and his delegation and introduced the basic situation of the institute. Tang Hongping, deputy director of the Marine Institute, gave a briefing on the history and current status of CRIMM’s research and development of deep-sea mineral resources development and utilization technology and equipment, the capabilities and facilities of the State Key Laboratory, and the institute’s recent key projects and achievements. Deputy Director Kang Jian fully affirmed the outstanding achievements CRIMM has made in the ocean cause, expressed admiration for the institute’s unremitting dedication over more than 30 years to the development of ocean mineral resources and the safeguarding of national rights and interests, and spoke highly of the institute’s ocean commitment of “complying with the nation’s maritime strategic layout and shouldering the national mission.” He also stated that COMRA will continue to support CRIMM’s development in the deep-sea field as it always has, and encouraged everyone to keep pace with the development of the nation’s maritime strategy and continue working hard to develop and utilize ocean mineral resources.
