On October 9, a delegation from the Interoceanmetal Joint Organization (IOM), comprising environmental consultant Kamila Mianowicz, economic geology expert Peter Balaz and Polish government official for the agreement Yulia Jerzy Mostashova, visited Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CRIMM) for a technical exchange.
The two sides presented the seabed resource and environmental surveys carried out in their respective polymetallic nodule contract areas in the eastern Pacific and the progress each has made in deep-sea mining and exploration technology, and discussed further strengthening cooperation between the two international seabed contractors going forward. After the meeting, the IOM delegation toured CRIMM’s analysis and testing center and the State Key Laboratory of Deep-Sea Mineral Resources Development and Utilization Technology.
CRIMM deputy general manager Zhuo Xiaojun and relevant staff of the science and technology development department and the Marine Institute attended the meeting.
