NEWS RELEASE, October 2011
Iron sands explorer, Trans-Tasman Resources Limited (TTRL), has made two senior management appointments as it prepares to expand its New Zealand operations.
Chief executive, Paul Berend, announced today that Andrew Stewart has been appointed Chief Financial Officer and Matthew Brown appointed General Manager – Exploration. “We are delighted that Andrew and Matthew have joined our team. Their appointments are another important step in the growth of Trans Tasman and will actively facilitate the expansion of our New Zealand operations,” Mr Berend said.
Mr Stewart is a senior finance professional with over 20 years of experience in various industries, including serving as Chief Financial Officer of New Zealand Oil & Gas Limited (NZOG) whose business included offshore operations in Taranaki, the same region as Trans Tasman’s license areas.
During his tenure with NZOG the company grew from a market capitalisation of $40m to $600m and raised over $175m in equity issues as well as the $85m IPO of Pike River Coal Limited. Mr Brown is an experienced geologist who has significant sector experience of working on iron sands projects, which will be invaluable as TTRL progresses its plans to harvest iron sands off the west coast of the North Island.
Before taking up this appointment, Mr Brown held a senior management position with New Zealand’s Crown Minerals (since renamed NZ Petroleum and Minerals) and so has intimate understanding of the licensing regime
