Afri-Can Marine Minerals has appointed Euan A. Worthington to the position of vice-president, corporate development.
Mr. Worthington is a chartered engineer who holds a BSc in geology (honours) and an MSc in mineral production management from the School of Mines of London. He has over 20 years of experience in the resources and finance industries. He started his career as a field geologist, and then served as a mining analyst and head of mining research for companies such as Hoare Govett, Shearson Lehman and SBC Warburg Securities in London. Over the last 10 years, he served as director of SBC Warburg Securities, international mining group, and director and head of international mining, corporate finance team, BZW and ABN Amro, in London.
Pierre Leveille, president and chief executive officer of Afri-Can Marine, stated that, “The appointment of Mr. Worthington provides the corporation with the international development leadership and experience it needs as it grows to become a significant participant in the marine diamond industry.”
The board of directors has also nominated Bernard J. Tourillon as director in replacement of Jurgen Kogl who resigned from his position. Mr. Tourillon has served as executive vice-president and chief financial officer of the corporation for the last seven years. He has been a key player in the development of Afri-Can’s activities in Namibia.
