Overseas Private Investment Corp. (OPIC), a U.S. governmental agency, has confirmed its commitment to the $15-million (U.S.) project financing for the acquisition of Diamond Fields International’s own vessels to be used for mining its Luderitz diamond concessions off the coast of Namibia. OPIC indicated that the financing process would continue forward without delay. Francis Waldron, chairman and chief executive officer of Diamond Fields, stated: “OPIC’s continued support for the company is a great endorsement of our sea diamonds project and its significant potential. We are grateful for their continuing efforts in assisting us in moving our project ahead.”
