Afri-Can Marine Minerals has appointed R.W. (Dick) Foster to the position of resource development manager.
Mr. Foster is a geologist who holds a bachelor of science in geology (honours) from Imperial College of the University of London and has an extensive experience in the marine diamond industry. Mr. Foster worked for De Beers for 32 years before retiring in 1996. With De Beers Marine, he held the position of geological manager for 11 years, and he was involved extensively in the management of exploration and mining programs. He led the teams that discovered major diamond deposits on the mid-continental shelves off South Africa and Namibia. Since 1996, Mr. Foster has been active in providing geological consulting and exploration management services.
Pierre Leveille, president and chief executive officer of Afri-Can, stated that, “The appointment of Mr. Foster is a major step forward as it provides the corporation with the technical and development leadership and experience it needs as it grows to become a significant participant in the marine diamond industry.”
