Diamonds recovered from the Luderitz Bay discovery have been valued by a firm of diamond assessors. 1,296 stones, half of the total recovered over the past six weeks from the sampling program, were divided into ten lots with sieve sizes of -11, +11, +15, and +21.

The highest value was assessed at US$297.18 per carat. This excluded one diamond of 2.86 carats valued at $1,500 per carat. The lowest value lot was assessed at US$146 per carat. The average value of all ten lots was US$206 per carat. This compares favourably with the previously notified estimate of $150 – $160 per carat. The overall quality is very high with a high yield of 54% for polishing.
