Meeting at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

Sofia (Bulgaria)  IOM representatives took part in a seminar organized by the Geological Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), which took place at the organizer’s headquarters on 17 September 2021 in Sofia, Bulgaria. During the seminar, the speakers presented the preliminary results of geochemical and geophysical studies of sediment samples and polymetallic nodules obtained during the IOM-2019 cruise. The research is carried out in cooperation with the IOM and aims to obtain environmental baseline in accordance with ISA guidelines. During the meeting, the scope of further cooperation between IOM and BAS was agreed.

Dr. Zlatka Milakovska and prof. IOM has submitted samples of pore water and polymetallic concretions for chemical composition analyzes, which will be performed in BAS.
