On December 2, the “70 Years of Huxiang Innovation” Hunan science and technology innovation tribute conference, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, was held in Changsha, with Hunan vice governor Chen Fei attending. The Kunlong 500 (a seabed nodule collector vehicle), developed by CRIMM together with the Changsha Institute of Mining Research and other units, was selected as one of the “Seven Calling Cards of Huxiang Innovation”.
As one of the seven calling cards of Huxiang science and technology innovation, the Kunlong 500 seabed collector project and team took the stage to be honored alongside the super hybrid rice project and team, the National University of Defense Technology Tianhe high-performance computer project and team, the ultra-high-speed train project and team, the “Kunlong 500” mining robot project and team, the laser gyroscope project and team, and the domestically produced large aircraft braking system project and team. CRIMM deputy general manager Zhuo Xiaojun accepted the tribute on the team’s behalf, receiving the tribute trophy and the salutes of Young Pioneers, young students and the audience.
CRIMM has worked this ground for many years, and its dedicated development of seabed mining technology and equipment has produced notable results. From the Eighth Five-Year Plan to the Twelfth Five-Year Plan, and from lake trials to sea trials, every launch of the Kunlong 500 has been a transformation in its growth. From 70 meters to 500 meters, from the Kunlong entering the sea to the “China Star”, every time the Kunlong 500 has touched bottom it has collected a wealth of precious data, providing important technical support for China’s deep-sea exploration.
